Try It On Everything
Review by Ron Ball, from
www.EFTZone.com

March 30, 2008

Seven years ago when I first learned EFT, the best way was to get Gary Craig’s videos. I bought all of the video sets and watched hours and hours of his seminars. At the time, there were few books about EFT and really no videos I thought would be good to introduce EFT to the lay public. That changed last summer when Gary produced a well-received, seven minute EFT introductory video. If his video was an appetizer, then the new film, Try It On Everything, is the entrée and main course to introducing people to EFT.

I’ve followed the progress on this project since it was announced last year. It premiered this month, and I received my copy of Try It On Everything yesterday. I watched it twice — once by myself in the afternoon and another time with my wife in the evening. (I’ll tell you what she said about the movie at the end of this post.)

I wasn’t sure what to expect. Perhaps you saw the trailer for it. Based on seeing Jack Canfield, Bob Proctor, and Joe Vitale in the trailer, I wondered if it would be an attempt at a sequel to The Secret. Thankfully, I discovered that it wasn’t. I really liked The Secret and preferred not to see a copycat version. Try It On Everything stands on its own. It combines vignettes from luminaries in the health care and life coaching arenas with “real world” people who want to change their lives using EFT.

This is the kind of film I might see on HBO Documentary Films or a special feature documentary from Spiritual Cinema Circle. In fact, these would be fine alternate channels of distribution for the movie. The film’s strength is that it has a real, down-to-earth, non-Hollywood quality to it. It’s not overproduced. It has a gentle feel to it. Even the musical score in the film purely complements what’s going on visually.

In short, the movie documents ten people with health and other life issues that come together in a retreat for four days. They learn how to do EFT for their problems. I enjoyed watching Rick Wilkes skillfully, passionately and often with a sense of humor, guide people through EFT and their processes. As always, Carol Look is so intuitive and articulate in explaining and doing EFT. And Dr. Patricia Carrington is one of those people that when she talks, you listen. She has a peaceful presence about her. Of course, these are just three fine examples. You’ll see many other wonderful EFT practitioners and experts in the film. I’ll save those surprises for you.

Try It On Everything shows what a team of people with passion, commitment and talent can do. Nicolas Ortner is the founder of Try It Productions and the producer of the film. It’s one thing to have a grand vision to do a project like this. It’s another thing to have the courage and tenacity to manifest it. I have great respect for what Try It Productions has done. Nick’s sister, Jessica Ortner, is the assistant producer, project manager and interviewer. She’s the “behind the scenes” person. The experts in this film are well-known and interviewed quite often. It’s a real challenge to ask the right questions and build rapport to get the gems of comments these experts have provided. Nicely done, Jessica.

Nicholas Polizzi is the director and editor of Try It On Everything. What was very impressive to me about the film was the editing. It was skillfully and beautifully woven together. In his editing, he intertwined comments with experts and participants in a smooth and natural way. It flowed together so well that the hour and 20 minutes was gone before I realized it. I imagine one of the toughest challenges to making the film was cutting it. There had to be a lot of great footage left behind. Lastly, thanks to the participants for being so open and generous in sharing their issues and allowing themselves to be filmed. Their humanity comes across. I felt very connected to them.

As I mentioned, after watching the film by myself, I saw it with my wife, Linda. I didn’t say anything to her while we were watching it. I wanted to get her spontaneous reaction. The first thing she said was that she noticed many of the retreat participants’ faces had changed by the end of the film. They looked softer, more vibrant and alive.

As the credits for the film were rolling, she commented, “Wow. Great. Excellent. Very, very well done. So believable. I wouldn’t change a thing.”

I love Dr. Carrington’s comment near the end of the film, “EFT is, I consider to be the people’s method. It’s there for all of us and literally at our fingertips.”

Try It On Everything is a great way to introduce the EFT method to people. Order a copy. Invite some people over to see it or pass the DVD around to your friends and family. Do it because Try It On Everything is a show it to everyone movie. It explains why I was excited to learn EFT seven years ago and why I continue to appreciate the wondrous results it can produce. EFT is a gift and so is this film.

Major Movie on EFT Just Released to Public
by Patricia Carrington, www.MasteringEFT.com

Maybe you saw the film crew of the just-released documentary movie, Try It On Everything, as they darted from place to place at the Dallas EFT conference last year. I didn't happen to because I didn’t attend that meeting! But the movie's creator-producer Nick Ortner, and his photographer-director Nick Polizzi, and his untiring organizing manager Jessica Maya Ortner were unobtrusively collecting film clips of important people in the EFT world at that conference. These film makers were virtually unknown at that point, something that will not be the case much longer however.

Try it Productions, as their company is called, has just accomplished the seeming impossible. On a small budget, armed only with an overwhelming belief in the value of EFT and deep enthusiasm for the project, this team of young people has put together a film that could scarcely have been expected at this point in EFT history. The question to be answered is –– can EFT effectively be introduced with a minimum of fanfare and yet become completely believable as a technique to a movie audience who does not know EFT and get them to remain totally involved in the movie for an hour and 20 minutes?

It seemed doubtful this could be done, but -- it has been. I have had a chance to view several versions of this movie in different stages of its production and I’ve just watched the final version as it has emerged with a smoothness born of care, skill and professionalism. The film does everything it set out to do.

Now available to the public as a DVD, the movie depicts a 4-Day EFT Retreat attended by ten people who did not know EFT beforehand. They had been carefully chosen from among more than a hundred applicants because of their high degree of motivation and the intrinsic interest of their conditions –– all very serious ones.

At the beginning of the movie we see these participants in their own homes as they prepare for the Retreat. They have no idea what to expect but are showing excitement mingled with apprehension as they face the unknown. All of them have agreed to allow cameras to follow them around 24 hours a day for the duration of the four days of the retreat. They are going to be filmed continuously during that time – but only a tiny portion of the footage, of course, will be used in the actual film. The filming will be in group sessions, in private sessions, and occasionally they will be permitted to have an interview with an EFT practitioner without a camera present. It will be a tight knit community for these four days.

As the experiment begins, we (as the camera) are “there” to greet each participant as they arrive at the retreat, to get to know their story and find out their reason for being present, their fears and hopes. Then we watch the challenges they face as they begin to use EFT under the guidance of the EFT practitioners. Among the several practitioners who participate in the movie is EFT Master Carol Look, whom many of you know as a major figure in the EFT world. She plays a prominent role as “herself” here as well as being one of the commentators in the film.

As we watch, EFT practitioner Rick Wilkes ably teaches EFT right on the spot (in front of the cameras) as the audience watches. It is taught only in a very basic fashion, of course, and the participants follow along with tapping. Theoretically a person viewing the movie could learn the basics of EFT and at least get started from watching this film. They would of course need more detailed instruction later but this could get them get off to a start. There is a homespun informal nature to the teaching which is heartening. It is happening with real people, real problems, and strong emotions and we see the situation unfold before our eyes.

The documentary is structured so that it is a teaching vehicle without in any way being stiff or forbidding in its approach. Various luminaries who are familiar names to the general public appear throughout the film as commentators and teachers. They explain the various principles of energy psychology, of EFT and even of basic psychology itself as they emphasize to the audience the importance of early childhood experience in determining our adult lives. Their interspersed comments are put together in such a fashion that each person seems to be continuing the same talk as the former one, with each person's comments leading smoothly into the next person’s, in a seemingly effortless job of editing.

The experts who explain the basics of EFT briefly and lucidly are well-known to most of us. From the EFT community we see Carol Look, Carol Tuttle, Rick Wilkes, Brad Yates, David Rourke, and myself. The broader Energy Psychology community is represented impressively as we watch Dr. Joseph Mercola of alternative health fame talk with conviction about the value and workings of EFT. Dr. Fred Gallo, a long time scholar and expert in the field of Energy Psychology describes the process itself, and Dr. Dawson Church, a prominent researcher in the field of energy psychology and author of the book The Genie In Your Genes (which I reviewed some months ago for Gary Craig's list –– a superb book on the energy psychology movement and a fine exposition of EFT). We are then joined by the major pioneer in pain control in the United States, Norman Shealy, M.D. who tells us much about energy psychology, and by the leading gene biologist Dr. Bruce Lipton, prominent author of The Biology of Belief. Cheryl Richardson, a well known author in the self-development field and strong fan of EFT is also included in this impressive array, as is Donna Eden, one of the stars of the energy psychology community.

Finally, the film brings us some of those who featured prominently in the movie The Secret, last year’s film about the Law of Attraction that has become so popular with the public. We visit Jack Canfield, cofounder of the legendary Chicken Soup For The Soul series, and hear his wise comments about energy psychology and EFT. We visit Joe Vitale (also from The Secret) and hear him talk about EFT, and Bob Proctor, best-selling author of You Were Born Rich and listen to him explain points of Energy Psychology. Each time we are taken directly into these people's homes and offices to visit with them informally as they talk about the exciting potential of EFT and Energy Psychology, lending impressive authority to the movie. All of these experts speak with sincerity and passion.

What is particularly striking about this movie is that none of it is contrived. The explanations are natural, human and down to earth and there is no question in the mind of the viewer as to the genuineness and conviction of the people who are explaining the process. They know exactly what they are talking about and believe in it profoundly. In other words, this is clearly not an “Infomercial” nor does it even vaguely resemble one!

The movie continues to show the unfolding of the 4-day retreat and ends as we see the people bid goodbye to each other, with regrets at leaving their small supportive temporary community. The movie is simple, human, and moving.

What will the effects of this film be on EFT’s image in the minds of the puiblic? One never knows about such things in advance, but it would seem to be “just what the doctor ordered" in terms of public relations for EFT. It is clearly a film that one can show to an audience unfamiliar with EFT and stir up interest and openness in those who watch it. It seems ideal for people who want a short but effective and dignified way of presenting EFT to family, friends, clients, students and the like. The movie gives just enough information to whet these people’s appetites without making them erroneously feel that they are prematurely “experts” in this subject.

There is no question in my mind but that the film will leave people wanting to know more about EFT, and since many of the participants in the movie were seriously compromised with regard to health or emotional problems and required the assistance of very experienced EFT practitioners, I would expect that the need for well-trained EFT practitioners will soar if this movie becomes well known.

As an interesting aside, I have been asked by the producers to write the companion book to the movie (it will have the same name, Try It On Everything). The book will be sold online along with the DVD a few months from now when it is completed. It will fill in some of the inevitable gaps in information that could not be covered in a movie and be addressed specifically to the general public who may not yet know about EFT, although it should contain very useful information for EFT’ers as well.

To sum up my impression of the movie, it is hard to imagine anyone who is enthusiastic about EFT who will not at some point want to see this movie. It is a true milestone. And to make things even more appealing, for every DVD that is purchased at the present time the producers are donating a duplicate DVD to a hospital, prison, half-way house or other place of assistance where it may be used to spread the word about EFT so that it becomes a true resource for many, many more people.

More testimonials about the film!
Thank you for "try it on everything".

I have not had a comfortable conversation with my sister in at least 15 years. So on Monday, i did the tapping before calling her. In the middle of our call, she said something and I SAW THE TRIGGER that would normally have started the downhill slide. It was amazing to see it coming and to choose to react in the way I want to.

thanks for giving me this great gift,

Ann

Hi I received the film the other day and couldn't wait to watch it. I loved it. Although I am quite familiar with EFT, I still felt I learned a lot and it has motivated me to use EFT more regularly.

Thank you!

AWESOME!!!

This movie will definitively help spread the good word or pardon the pun "the good tapping" - even here in remote Africa.

I'm looking so forward in showing people your movie and the excitement really "juices" me up.

I can already see this movie spreading as rapidly as "The Secret", in fact more so, as our technique now also delivers the tools for the changes required.(which I and most other people felt lacked in The Secret)

The Secret can in a way be compared to New Years Resolutions - very attractive and appealing, yet difficult to stick to or implement.

This is exactly what I have been looking for. Well done, brilliant job and congratulations!!!

I have received an watched the DVD. It is very powerful and well done. I enjoyed it very much. I had a deep personal experience as I watched the DVD as the various individuals went through their own experience. I was surprised and humbled by how many of their experiences struck home with me. I agree that this is medicine for the people, by the people. There's something to it!!! it works!!!!

Also, just wanted to give you the update on the "Angel" copies. I will be distributing them tomorrow in the Sacramento area. Two of the agencies have asked for multiple copies. I'm happy to be able to provide them because you were so kind to include a few extra copies beyond the list.

I will send you a note after they have been distributed. Again, thank you so much for your generosity.........Helen

Yes I have seen your movie several times now. I think it is fantastic! Much better than "The Secret" because it gives you a truely practical tool that works quickly...also I felt more emotionally connected to your movie because I saw real people like me getting amazing results quickly and I really cared about what happened to them. It all seemed so much more real than most of these "self-help" "law of attraction" kind of films out these days. Within the first 10 minutes I felt like I was rooting for the healing of all the participants and was so amazed at their results even though I have known about EFT for some time now.

Two days ago I showed the Movie to a friend I have been trying to teach EFT. In the past she was reluctant and wouldn't make time for us to do it together. After watching the movie she used EFT at work the next day and it really helped her with her frustration. This Movie is fantastic!

Best of Luck,
Fraeda

I wish I could TAP into the right words...I am astounded. I have just finished watching the whole movie...time just flew! And just like everybody else, I cried, I laughed...I could almost feel I was hugging some of your participants and wanted to stand up and dance and clap with them! As the movie developed, I suddenly became aware that my whole body was relaxing and that the energy of the group came across the thousands of miles into my livingroom. Now this is something, as I had five parent meetings today and was mentally and physically exhausted. Yet I was soothed without even tapping.

The movie is everything I expected it to be and much more! It is a mastepiece, and if I may, I would like to share it with some friends and specially with the son of our Kinder Principal who is 22 and is going through a very though time with chemeo due to a recently detected cancer.

God do we all have issues to release!!!! What is this business of holding on to a feeling of not deserving to be happy?!!!

I finally took time to watch the DVD--it was just wonderful, and encouraging, and very moving to watch. I enjoyed the
way you integrated the celeb comments to be meaningful and sincere-not rah-rah. I will certainly be sharing it with others!!

Here goes. I have been working with a group of Vietnam Veterans and their spouses for 8 months (or more). Yesterday, there were 3 veterans and 4 wives who attended. Groups can be as many as 10.

We began weekly meetings, then schedules, WINTER, etc. took it's toll, so we now meet once a month, perhaps twice a month. (they travel long distances to meet).

I have taught them EFT TAT and we do Guided Imagery every time.

When I began yesterday's session, I told them that tapping while watching would be important. I continued to watch them and coach them to tap...

There were many tears and many heads nodding as they watched. We all tapped.

At the end, I asked if they would give honest feedback in relation to watching and tapping.

One of the wives spoke first:
"I had a flashback of surgery.. It brought up body memory that was very painful I wondered if I could stand it. It is now gone... completely released!"

A Veteran:
"It floored me! Alcohol/PTSD, being to told to accept what is going on, but you can't change it... to Talk it out... I'm scared of losing my wife, my home:everything! To communicate my feelings and know I can't change the past but I can accept it, that Spirit is Faith and Hope... that my history is in control. I have to get back my feeling I'm scared. I feel weak for sexual abuse in my past. This helped me a lot. It is so positive.... We need much more than an hour. This is a wonderful DVD Our wives need it too.... 'wounded people choose wounded people' "

Wife: A lot of pain in my leg when I came in.... could feel the pain coming out of my leg as I watched and tapped. It brought up a lot of things I was not even aware of.
I feel better!"

Wife: I went through emotion even though it was not my story. I could feel a release. It was nice. Like a weight off.

Veteran:
Excellent film! This did all of us good.

One of the veterans was 'blank'..... seemed stuck, He said he just felt blank. We all tapped with him, he went to blank to shame, to guilt. He felt much better when we finished.

At the end, they all asked if I would do a 2 or 3 day 'intensive' with them. I agreed to!

I left there and felt gratitude and so much humility (in a very good way). Even though we had tapped before, there was something about seeing it on a video and tapping with it that got us to the deep place so the healing could take place.

So, Nick! THANK YOU from the bottom, top and center of my heart.

With much love and respect,
Candace

I watched it last night and was emotionally touched both by the stories and experiences shared and issues that we brought for me to work on. i've made a list to begin. i look forward to watching it again and again.

I have been "peeling the onion" for years. I received my DVD last week and immediately sat down and watched it. It is very exciting to see. I had been working on releasing, so when I sat down to try it, all the former things I had worked thru came up along with some additional ones. It was interesting to see these same things come up that I thought were past but I got new perspective on them and then was able to relate other experiences where I had felt unappreciated and unvalidated.

It was very liberating for me and I am continuing to tap on the side of my hand expressing my love and acceptance of myself.

Thanks!
-Evelyn

I've finally had the opportunity to view Try It On Everything, and I am completely blown away and excited about this program. You have done a tremendous job of conveying both the simplicity and the power of this incredible modality. Your DVD is a winner!

I loved your introduction to all the participants at the beginning, and watching them go through their transformations. They looked like different people at the end. I was also pleased that there was a variety of experiences; that for some people the weekend created opportunities for huge shifts and for others, it was a wonderful beginning to a new way of life. I will look on the website to see how they are doing!

Thank you for this wonderful DVD -- I plan on wearing this one out and ordering another very soon.

With gratitude,

Ellen
